| The media laboratory is a space for experimental media work (mostly "new media", i.e. computer- and internet-based), meetings and discussions on media issues, and connections of progressive theory and practices. In addition to occasional workshops (for example, on pgp encryption and web streaming), the media lab hosts an online library and a monthly Linux Cafe, and it produces a monthly radio programme on the local free radio FSK.

| Coalition of nadir.org (alternative/left-wing web-platform/ISP), Indymedia (network for independent and uncommercial news reports), gruppefünf (theory production on precarity and related issues), and individual media-makers. The media lab is a semi-public space.
